Spiritual Gifts

God gives every believer spiritual gift(s) for the purpose of building up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11–13). The Holy Spirit alone determines which gifts each believer receives. Some are gifted to teach, others to encourage, show mercy, or lead in administration. Scripture does not provide an exhaustive list of spiritual gifts. However, we can recognize a gift when we see a believer faithfully using it to edify and strengthen the body of Christ.

Above all spiritual gifts, love is paramount (1 Corinthians 13). Without love, every gift is empty. Whether we serve through teaching, worship, giving, leadership, administration, or mercy, if these acts are not motivated by love, they accomplish nothing in God’s kingdom.

Regarding prophecy and tongues, we recognize that many false or misguided expressions of these gifts exist in the world today. Such misuse has led to confusion and, in some cases, real spiritual harm. For this reason, it is essential that the church be protected from unbiblical practices. Scripture speaks clearly about the purpose and proper function of these gifts. We are committed to teaching their biblical use as outlined in 1 Corinthians 14, so that the body of Christ may be guarded, strengthened, and encouraged.
